Black Walnut Cake
Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- ¾ lb butter 3 sticks
- 3 cups sugar
- 5 eggs
- ½ tsp vanilla
- ½ tsp lemon extract
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup black walnuts chopped
Instructions
- Line the bottom of a tube cake pan with parchment paper and spray well with Pam.
- Sift flour and salt together. Set aside.
- Cream butter and sugar together until well incorporated.
- Mix in eggs one at a time.
- Add vanilla and lemon extract.
- Mix in flour and milk alternately, beginning with flour and ending with flour.
- Add black walnuts and mix well. Pour batter into cake pan.
- Bake at 300°F starting in a cold oven for 2 hours.
- Cool on a rack in the pan 10 minutes. Remove from pan and place on a serving platter.
