Black Walnut Cake

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¾ lb butter 3 sticks
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • ½ tsp vanilla
  • ½ tsp lemon extract
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup black walnuts chopped

Instructions

  • Line the bottom of a tube cake pan with parchment paper and spray well with Pam.
  • Sift flour and salt together. Set aside.
  • Cream butter and sugar together until well incorporated.
  • Mix in eggs one at a time.
  • Add vanilla and lemon extract.
  • Mix in flour and milk alternately, beginning with flour and ending with flour.
  • Add black walnuts and mix well. Pour batter into cake pan.
  • Bake at 300°F starting in a cold oven for 2 hours.
  • Cool on a rack in the pan 10 minutes. Remove from pan and place on a serving platter.
